Rev. Liana Rowe to retire from the Southwest Conference staff

Rev. Liana Rowe will be retiring from her conference position as Administrative Assistant for Finance as of April 30, 2021.

"My time serving the Southwest Conference has been some of the most fulfilling work I’ve had the privilege to do with colleagues who support, nurture, cheer, and challenge one another," said Liana. "While I am sad to think of leaving such a cohesive team, I’m also very much looking forward to some extended Airstream adventures!"

“Liana has served the SWC for many years in a number of roles. She has been a champion of justice and her impact is evident wherever I go. Liana gave up the mantle of moderator in order to apply for the Administrative Assistant for Finance. That risk has benefited the SWC and made a significant and positive contribution to the life of the conference,” said Conference Minister Bill Lyons. “Liana has also brought deep and loving hospitality along with laughter and joy to our life together as a staff. I am deeply grateful to Liana for her work, her strength, and her support over the years. She has shared herself and her talents generously with all of us. Liana will be deeply missed in our life together and in our daily operations, even as she will continue among us as a member of the SWC. I am confident we all wish her well in the new adventures that retirement will afford her and Brian.”

The Personnel Committee will work with the Conference Minister to identify qualified candidates and formulate a transition plan. Some overlap between Liana’s departure and the start of a new administrative assistant for finance is anticipated. Hiring is expected to happen soon after the first of the year.

Liana joined the staff in early 2018.
