Rise for Refuge Day of Action to Stop Refugee/ Asylum Bans

On the heels of Trump barring virtually all refugees from seeking asylum at the U.S. southern border, reports have surfaced that administration officials are pressing to zero out refugee resettlement in 2020. This would result in a near total refugee ban, collapsing the U.S. Refugee Resettlement program and the infrastructure of humanitarian protection this country has built over decades—all during the worst global refugee crisis in history. We Are All America and partners ask you to join in calling for a national day of action and mass mobilization in response on Saturday, August 3rd.

RISE FOR REFUGE NATIONAL MOBILIZATION WEBINAR

Led by impacted communities (refugees, asylees and immigrants), Rise for Refuge aims to fight back against the illegal and immoral refugee and asylum bans. Missed our webinar? Click here for the recording, and learn how you can join the day of action.

OUR DEMANDS

We are calling on Members of Congress to do everything in their power to end the administration's attacks on asylum seekers and return refugee resettlement to historic norms. The administration has already decimated the U.S. asylum system and refugee resettlement program. Zeroing out refugee resettlement would amount to a full refugee ban, with grave long-term implications.

As people who care about refugees - abroad and at our doorstep - we must make our voices heard. Join us in demanding that Congress stop the administration from ending asylum and refugee resettlement! We are demanding that Congress:

1.    Save the Life-saving Refugee Resettlement Program

2.    Stop the Asylum Ban and Protect Asylum Seekers

3.    Keep Families Together and End Child & Family Detention

4.    Cut Funding that Fuels Deportations, Detention, Border Militarization

5.    Protect Refugee and Immigrant Families from Prolonged Separation
