Caring for the Greater Community

Put together by the Faith Action Committee at First Christian Church Las Cruces.

El Caldito continues to need volunteers to prepare lunches for the homeless.  Mike reminds us that our next FCC commitment is for Tuesday, May 26, 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.  They are very conscientious about the need to “social distance” and will supply masks if you don’t have one.  Contact crew chief Herb Francis if you are available and can help.  His email address is: hlfranc@yahoo.com.

El Calvario continues to support the Pan de Vida Shelter for refugees in Ciudad Juarez.  They make occasional trips down to deliver toiletries and food. They also set up a supermarket account that is replenished every two weeks with $500 so that the refugees can purchase what they need locally.  FCC continues to contribute $150 per month toward this cause, and they can always use more!

The HIV/AIDS Food Pantry housed in our building is in great need of
        laundry soap
        shampoo
        lotion
        toothbrushes
        bleach
Supplies can be dropped off at the church during Pantry hours on Wednesdays, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., or may be left anytime outside the pantry door located at the north side of our Parlor.

The Border Servant Corps is gathering supplies for a weekly trip up to the Navajo Nation, which is a national hotspot for the virus with a large number of our neighbors sick and dying.  They need
        feminine hygiene products
non-perishable foods that do not require clean water to prepare and consume

If you cannot get out and want to donate items for the Navajo Nation or the HIV/AIDS Food Pantry, please text (575-621-8143) or email suesg66@gmail.com (Sue Stefford-Grey).  We’ll schedule a time on Tuesday, May 26, to come by in our truck and pick up your contributions and deliver them to drop off places.
