Hope House of Sedona June 2021 update

From Gale Lothrop:

Hello friends!

It has already been an exciting June for Hope House. On June 1st, we held our official groundbreaking ceremony with city and school dignitaries. Speakers for the event emceed by Board president, John Lothrop, were Mayor Sandy Moriarty, City Manager Karen Osburn, Vice Superintendent and homeless liaison for SOCUSD Deana DeWitt and Isabel Rollins from the Northern AZ Council of Governments. The blessing was given by Pastor Cindy Parker from The Church of the Red Rocks. Many kind words were said about the project and what a necessary step this is for our community. We hope to have the house open by late 2021/early 2022.

The next day, June 2nd, we held a well-attended “open lot.” There, guests were able to view the floor plan of the house and a drawing of what we expect it to look like. We had the outline of the house laid out with stakes and pink neon tape, so people could see the footprint and where it will be located on the lot. It was wonderful to see so many supporters there.

The floorplan for Hope House consists of one bedroom & bathroom suite for the live-in house manager and three other bedrooms sharing two bathrooms. One bedroom and one bathroom will be handicap accessible (ADA).

We continue with the $100,000 Homestretch Campaign, our fundraising effort to help us make the house “move-in ready.” To open, we must have funds for furniture, appliances, landscaping, a security system, and operating expenses. We still need $60,000 to complete that campaign. At the right is a graph showing the progress that we have made to reach the finish line: purchasing the property and building the house, and what we have left to raise. We are so close!

A reminder: when you are shopping on Amazon, you can support Hope House at the same time. It’s so easy. Instead of going to amazon.com, go to smile.amazon.com. That will give you an opportunity to select Hope House as your charity designation.

Also, we are still raising funds through Sedona Soap Box (sedonasoapbox.com) where 40% of the proceeds from your purchases will be given to Hope House. As you are checking out, use the code HOPE for your order.

One more thing, Hope House of Sedona is now a proud member of the Sedona Chamber of Commerce. We look forward to our participation with them.

Many blessings to you all for your continued support of Hope House.
