Pop-up shelter for asylum seekers: immediate needs

A pop-up shelter for asylum seekers being dropped off by ICE in Phoenix will open July 5. This shelter is needed to increase capacity and relieve over-crowding at the Welcome Center already operating. This is a cooperative effort.

The pop-up shelter is being sponsored by Lutheran Social Services, Helping With All My Heart, and the Latter Day Saints. Case management, childcare, and other services will be provided. Immediate needs include 125 twin blankets, a full-size washer and dryer, and monetary support to purchase water bottles, towels, hygiene products, snacks, and undergarments for women, men, and children.

For more information or to arrange donations of good or money, you may contact Ruth Escobar at Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest. To volunteer or for a list of volunteer opportunities you may contact Pastor Martha Perez at All My Heart.
