Thank you to all who bought crafts made by the women’s cooperative “Mujeres Unidas de HEPAC” of Nogales, Sonora at the 2018 Annual Meeting of the SW Conference.

We are grateful for your continued support. This year your purchases totaled $821. This money helps the women provide simple basic needs for their families. Plus, a portion of the proceeds go to HEPAC (Home of Hope and Peace) - A movement of women, men & children working to create peace and justice in their community.

Update: Poor People's Campaign (PPC) for Arizona

A meeting of Tucson-area people interested in the Poor People's Campaign (PPC) for Arizona was held last Thursday evening, May 3, at 6:30 p.m. at the Global Justice Center, 225 E 26th St, Tucson, 85713.


People who attended the April 23 meeting in Phoenix reviewed their notes. We discussed how we wish to proceed with PPC activities. Repairers of the Breach has recruited someone in the Phoenix area to coordinate Arizona activities at the State Capitol from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.for each of the Monday's in the campaign (May 14 through June 18). However, none of us at the meeting had received any communications about how or if we would coordinate with others in the State.

The goal was 100 boxes of Cheerios. They collected 140! The cereal will be distributed at two of the Keeling food pantries. The monthly Keeling pantry is a newly established outreach program to supplement the food available to low income families at the end of the month when food insecurity may become an issue.

Shepherd of the Hills and the Mohammadi Family

Shepherd of the Hills received a special offering on May 6th to bless the Mohammadi family. The Mohammadi's, originally from Afghanistan, are a family that fled a war they did not want and left a home they had had for generations. Several members of Shepherd of the Hills have helped along the way to aid their transition. Jill Thomas or Rob Hart will share with us Sunday, May 6th prior to receiving the special offering a little more about this resilient family. The Mohammadi family will join us for Worship the following Sunday, May 13th.
