Racial Oppression, climate change, reparations – all interrelated in a story that began over 500 years ago. “In the nation’s formative years, we believed that an investment in racial oppression was the price of admission to nationhood,” notes R. James Addington in his book Tragic Investment: How Race Sabotages Communities and Jeopardizes America’s Future – And What We Can Do About It. “That investment continues to reverberate today and even hampers our capacity to respond to global poverty, hunger, and other concerns. Consequently, the reparation of community is a fundamental priority. Healing the wounds of the past is necessary if we are to shape a liveable future.”
James Addington will be speaking on the book and these themes on November 17, 2019 at Church of the Painted Hills, United Church of Christ. There will be books available for purchase and signing at that time.
