Taos UCC had 22 people show up on Sunday, September 24 to its first of six planned monthly social justice services. This one focused on immigration justice. They collected 151 pounds of clothing, shoes, and day packs for men being deported from Stewart Detention Center in Georgia, which they shipped to Koinonia Farm Prison Ministry. They will pack each individual pack for the men as they are being deported.
United Church of Angel Fire sent huge boxes of clothing and packs. “It was great to partner with them,” writes Rev. Pamela Shepherd. “Next event on October 29th will focus on Earth Justice and Climate Care. Please keep us in your prayers as the road is long on this adventure. Our kickoff date for weekly worship is March 18th. I am hoping for 50 in worship that Sunday.”
Pamela, congratulations on the great start to your public events!
