Spirit of the Rocks

“Spirit of the Rocks” is a diverse community that sings, prays, shares meals and has conversations about life and faith; responding to the Spirit's call, we minister to one and other and serve the needs of those we encounter.

About us: We are a radically inclusive spiritual community grounded in the Gospels where ALL are welcomed, no exceptions; we are ALL created in the image of God.

The center of our communal spiritual life is a weekly conversational gathering where we rejoice in God’s gift of creation, thank God for our many blessings, console each other in our trials, pray and sing together, and share our thoughts on a weekly topic and how it impacts our life and our faith.

We extend the joy of our faith through communal mission projects in the Verde Valley. This is the Spirit … of the Rocks, where we participate in an exploration of our faith together.

The goal of our gatherings is to learn from and celebrate the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth; a life and teachings that concentrated on the here and now and sought to help us live life and live it abundantly.

The shape of the Weekly gathering:

  • We gather

  • We listen for a word of wisdom

  • We talk and wonder together

  • We pray together

  • We imagine how to walk the talk

  • We go in Grace . . . and eat some dessert if it's available

So far, we have rotated the discussion leadership between Pastor Parker, Sergio Mazza and Ree Hudson. Others will be invited to lead over time. Pam Moore has just begun playing the piano and leading us in song. So far we have had 12-24 attend on any given evening. We trust that the Spirit will guide us in the evolution and development of this new “worship” service, and that it will serve the spiritual needs of people who don’t normally come to our Sunday worship.
