United Church of Sun City’s Assistant Pastor, Susan Aurich, is retiring on December 31. Well done, good and faithful servant!

There will be a socially-distanced drive-through send-off in the church parking lot honoring Pastor Susan on Tuesday December 22 from 11:00am to 12:30pm.

You may also email Susan or send a card to her at the church.

Southwest Conference Minister, Rev. Dr. Bill Lyons, expressed his gratitude to Susan.

Susan wrote this note to her church:

My dear friends,

My how time has flown since I first came to the United Church of Sun City. In May 2005 I was hired as Director of Care Ministries. I started a Care Ministry Team and we visited people in the hospital, in their homes, and in care centers. We called on the phone and sent cards too. I have continued the card ministry sending birthday, get well, anniversary and thinking of you cards.

I worked with Rev. Jim Fredette on the World War II series of films and the recording of our veterans as they told their personal stories of that war. With Rev. Curt Ackley we continued to work with the Olive Branch Senior Center (and still do!). Curt encouraged me to become a Commissioned Minister and I was commissioned on 10/27/2012.

During this 15 ½ years we have had to say goodbye to many friends...who moved away and those who went home to God. We are truly grateful for their being with us and we treasure our memories of them. In 2011 we started our participation in the Luke Air Force Base Christmas Angels program. Wow, it has been successful and such a joy. Then we had our children’s sermon (The Grinch Who Stole Christmas), a sermon on Noah and Mrs. Noah (and the choir members wore animal masks!)

Halloween Parties! Especially the year of the seven dwarfs and Pastor Brady as Snow White! And it has been my joy to introduce you to women in the Bible!

Singing with the choir for our annual Christmas and Easter cantatas has been a highlight of each year. Oh how I miss singing!

I am going to retire at the end of December. I have so missed seeing, hugging, and smiling with you during this year of pandemic. Hopefully, sometime soon, we can all meet once more. I thank all of you for your support.

Love and Blessings,
Susan
