Phoenix

Ashes to Go: Shepherd Of The Hills will join forces again this year with Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 3641 N 56th St, Phoenix, AZ 85018, to do “Ashes to Go.” It will be located at the pull-through portion of Prince of Peace’s parking lot just off 56th street. We will also join them for Ash Wednesday services at their church that day at 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM.

Traditional Ash Wednesday worship with ashes will be held at noon, and an Upper Room worship will be offered at 6 p.m. The 6 pm worship will include a potluck supper of light soups, bread, and fruit for breaking of the Ash Wednesday fast, followed by worship and ashes. Santa Fe

“Something Like Easter” - 12:00 Noon and 7:00 pm at United Church of Santa Fe, 1804 Arroyo Chamiso - Santa Fe NM 87505 The traditional Hebrew scripture for Ash Wednesday is the Prophet Joel’s day of judgment and his call to repentance. As writer Frederick Buechner says, “To hear the texts of Lent and your answers to the questions of Lent is to begin to hear something not only of who you are but of both what you are becoming, and what you are failing to become.” “It can be a pretty depressing business all in all,” Buechner admits, “but if sackcloth and ashes are at the start of it, something like Easter may be at the end.” (Childcare—both services; older children invited to share in worship.)

Scottsdale

Sun City

A 5 pm service of confession, ashes, and preparation for Lent with four congregations (Desert Garden UCC, Church of the Palms UCC, United Church of Sun City, and Sun City Christian (DOC) Church, where the service will be held. 9745 W. Palmeras Drive in Sun City.

Taos

Simple 30-minute Ash Wednesday service at 6 pm at First Presbyterian next to Kit Carson Park, with Taos UCC and El Pueblito UMC.

Tempe

A short evening service with ashes 6:45–7:15 pm at Desert Palm UCC, 1230 E Guadalupe Rd · Tempe, AZ 85283
