Pastor Michael of Casas Adobes is offering a monthly summer series inviting those gathered to look at Biblical texts that have raised many thorny questions over the year. Last week’s session was War-What Is It Good For? They read several different sections of the Bible that seem to support violence and sections that seem to condemn it. So, the question is, how is God speaking here and now?
Every voter who wants to cast their ballot should be able to do so. The Arizona FaIth Network is hosting training for Poll Monitors and Poll Workers because people filling both of these roles need to have an understanding of AZ's election law, and the barriers that voters can face. Further information and RSVP links for the July 19th or 23rd Zoom training sessions are available at the link below.
Two weeks ago, Pastor Mike from Church of the Painted Hills joined others at the El Tiradito Shrine. They were there to participate in a vigil in memory of our 53 migrant neighbors who died in the abandoned trailer discovered in the outskirts of San Antonio, Texas on June 27. Then last Monday, Pastor Mike received the monthly email from Humane Borders with its report of Recovered Human Remains. The Pima County Medical Examiner reported that the remains of 27 children of God were discovered in June bringing the total for the calendar year to 96. There are 3,909 deaths recorded in the Humane Borders database and 1,475 cases where the remains have not been identified. The vigil at El Tiradito takes place the first Thursday of every month to remember our migrant neighbors who have lost their lives.
