Casas Adobes is starting a Men’s Small Group Book Dialogue starting Monday, February 6th, and meeting every two weeks through April 17th, facilitated by CAUCC member Duane Udstuen. They are discussing the book: Resilient: Restoring Your Weary Soul in These Turbulent Times by John Eldredge. Between false promises of ease and comfort on one side and the sheer trauma of global disease and disasters on the other, people today are facing a shortage of peace, happiness, and strength.

From October to May, neighborhood Amigos groups from The Good Shepherd in Sahuarita gather for fun and fellowship. Each Amigos group has a facilitator(s) who organizes various activities which are of interest to the group such as potlucks, outings, picnics, speakers and more. There are currently 6 Amigos groups located in Green Valley – including Rio Rico, Amado, and Tubac. The groups are autonomous but share the same goal of giving the Church family a way to build stronger relationships with one another outside of the Church.

For the past several years United Church of Sun City and Church of the Palms have been collecting soup during January until the NFL Super Bowl (which is February 12 this year) as part of the nation-wide campaign known as the Souper Bowl of Caring Soup Drive. Soup drives take place in schools, churches, and other community organizations and then the soup is shared with local food pantries to help feed those in need. The church that collects the most gets the coveted Silver Ladle Award. The Silver Ladle has graced United’s sanctuary for the last several years and they would like to keep it that way! All the soup collected from both churches goes to Valley View Food Bank.
