What a wonderful Sunday at United Church of Sun City!  Eight new members joined the church during worship and then over 300 people attended the Sounds of the Southwest Singers concert in the afternoon.  It was topped off with free ice cream sundaes.  Nothing better than United Church Sunday-Sundaes!!

United Church of Santa Fe is beginning a Prayer Child Ministry.  Every young person is paired with an adult who holds them in daily prayer.

The Evolution of the Negro Spiritual concert will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7 (2:00 pm) at United Church of Santa Fe.  Bass-baritone Marques Jerrell Ruff guides listeners through the inception to the development of the Negro spiritual in a concert fundraiser for the Equal Justice Initiative. Encanto’s Fall Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and it will feature all kinds of items including furniture, Halloween costumes, artwork, holiday items, collectibles, and clever gift ideas!

On Oct 24th from 9-12, all are invited to help “Build Bridges and Break Barriers” at Arizona Faith Network's Annual Gathering! Event will be held at the Phoenix Center for the Arts at 1202 N 3rd St., Phoenix. Join this diverse gathering as we work together to build bridges throughout Arizona and break down barriers of injustice as people of faith. Clearwater Creek will perform and lead singing of favorite folk tunes from the 60s at the Hippie Fun Fest on 10/28 at Black Mountain UCC.  Folks to come dressed up and ready for fun.  In addition, there will be a Time/Talent Auction! Each member is encouraged to bring an item to auction.  Past items have included dinner parties, dance parties, trivia night parties, freshly made treats to order - as in tamales, cakes, pies, cookies -Food is popular, Group adventures (Top Golf was a blast!), help with housework or babysitting/pet sitting, or tickets to the symphony or a play. Some have put together themed baskets filled with goodies around a theme....Halloween might be an idea.

On Oct 22nd at the 10 am service, United Church of Sun City will hold its annual “Broadway Sunday” featuring favorite Broadway music plus some surprises.  This year will debut a song from the musical version of “The Color Purple.”

First Church UCC Phoenix hopes that some of their friends from other UCC churches, especially those who help out at the Welcome Center, will join this special  Book Launch on Monday, Oct 2nd at 6pm.  Journalist and scholar, Stephanie Saldana, will be at First Church.  She wrote a beautiful book, What We Remember Will Be Saved: A Story of Refugees and the Things They Carry.  She follows the lives of six refugees from Syria and Iraq, describing what they saved and how they rebuilt their lives in other countries.

The Immigration Justice Team at First Congregational in Albuquerque is sponsoring an online book group to read  Against the Wall: My Journey from Border Patrol Agent to Immigration Rights Activist by Jenn Budd.
