Invitation from Shepherd of the Hills / Valley Interfaith Project

October 24, 2024, 6:30–8:00 pm

Shepherd of the Hills UCC, 5524 E Lafayette Blvd., Phoenix

Dear Friends in our Southwest Conference,

If you have felt...

  • Frustrated, anxious, and/or overwhelmed by current problems in our world, our country, our state, our towns, our neighborhoods....or

  • Cautiously optimistic and encouraged by exciting possibilities on the horizon...or

  • Curious to learn how to impact critical decisions made by our elected leaders ...and/or ...

  • Eager to join folks working together with an organized interfaith group committed to creating progress on important issues...

Then PLEASE consider attending the Valley Interfaith Project Assembly on Thursday, Oct 24, 6:00--8 pm.

Several Arizona, Maricopa County and city candidates, elected leaders, and other public officials have already accepted our invitation to attend the meeting, and we are expecting more will join us. The focus will be on three priorities identified by VIP for the coming year:

  • Mental Health

  • Affordable Housing

  • Safe Neighborhoods

You will hear personal stories from individuals deeply affected by these issues, and we will share brief teachings on each of the problems.

Our official guests will respond to curated questions from VIP. We will ask them to commit to working with VIP toward solutions.

Along with congregations from around the Valley, we plan to fill the sanctuary at Shepherd of the Hills UCC in Phoenix (approximately 320 people). A group this size will capture the attention of our guests--they will see the strength in our numbers and our serious intention to work with them to improve the lives of our neighbors--their constituents. They will know that we are a force and a resource in their/our community.

We see this as an opportunity to take ownership--to take action--to create meaningful progress--to do something.

The number in attendance matters. Won't you please come and bring a friend? Thank you!
