These two prayers for Thanksgiving were shared by United Church of Santa Fe:

A Nicaraguan Prayer:

O God, bless this food we are about to receive.

Give bread to those who hunger,

and a hunger for justice to those of us who have bread.

A Prayer for Thanksgiving for Children

Thank you for the lives of the children in our care and in our prayers. Thank you for their hope and joy. Thank you for your guidance in their lives. Protect their minds, watch over their hearts, and lead them to great adventures.

United Church of Sun City had an exciting October. First, they held a blanket and sock drive and collected 78 blankets and 251 pairs of socks that were donated to the Veterans Furniture Center. The Mission Board is thankful to all who have donated and for making a difference in the lives of so many individuals.

Then on Sunday, October 27, they entertained their congregation by bringing together The Beatitudes and Broadway! The music ministry and praise team performed numerous inspiring works from Broadway musicals while their very own star, Rev. Brady Abel, made correlations of musical works to how they follow the principles of The Beatitudes. Pictured is the praise team (from left to right): Kira Kadel-Funk, Cheryl Tucker, Brenda Goodenberger, and Minister of Music Alan Paulson.

“The Pantry” has been a part of First Christian Church of Las Cruces for many years and serves a population of people that have had some extra struggles in their lives. First Cristian Church is designating the month of November as a time to contribute items to re-stock the shelves for the holidays.

In the midst of the anxiety and chaos of this election season, Casas Adobes invites anyone to come November 5th at 11:00 am to their Chapel for a simple service of prayer, silence, and reflection.

Have you ever heard of a "sound bath?" Sound and vibrational therapies are based on the practice of Yoga Nidra which involves a guided meditation with sound, experienced in a reclining position, designed to move the participants into a deep state of relaxation. The sound frequencies come from crystal bowls that are played during the session along with several other instruments. Come and experience this newly emerging way to meditate and relax. Our first session will take place on November 7th from 10:30 to 11:30 in the Sanctuary at Casas Adobes.

The Church of the Palms “Perryville Pen Pals” send cards and notes to the incarcerated women and have received many notes of thanks in return.  (They never use last names and the church address is always the return address.) The Pen Pals’ motto is “Each of us is more than the worst thing we’ve ever done.”  Cards and notes convey a recognition of worthiness.

Interfaith Power and Light’s (IPL) engineering team completed the energy audit of Church of the Good Shepherd in Albuquerque and found that COGS had the lowest energy use for a building of its size of the 38 churches that have been analyzed. Total energy usage for 2023 was significantly below for both 2021 and 2022.  And COGS is now 92% funded for their solar installation!
