Congratulations to First Congregational Prescott on their 144th anniversary! The church was founded September 26, 1880. The first building was dedicated on November 27, 1881, at a cost of $3200. The current building – 216 East Gurley Street - was dedicated on June 26, 1905. The congregation has always sought to follow Jesus in caring for and about those on the margins of society. In 1900, members of this congregation taught English to the Chinese railroad workers here in Prescott after the completion of the transcontinental railroad. Their commitment to education led their pastor and members to help in the founding of Prescott College. The congregation joined the United Church of Christ denomination after its formation.

The Good Shepherd UCC in Sahuarita is preparing to say goodbye to Margaret Kofron, Director of Faith Formation and Community Engagement Coordinator. Her last Sunday with them is October 20th. She is planning to move to Lebanon to work with Global Ministries as a global intern. The partner she will be working directly with is The Forum for Development Culture and Dialogue. Margaret is well aware of the situation right now in Lebanon and if the situation does not improve then she will be sent to work with a different global partner. They will miss her and her always positive, loving outlook on life.

Church of the Good Shepherd Albuquerque will worship with St. Chad's Episcopal this coming Sunday, October 6. St. Chad's invited COGS to join them for their 50th anniversary service so they could formally thank them for playing such a pivotal role in their founding. The two churches shared the church building on Juan Tabo with Saint Chad's for 5 years! Recently rediscovered newspaper articles and church newsletters show that they were incredibly close, hosting regular social events, youth programs, and charity fundraisers together. In more recent years, St. Chad's provided invaluable support to COGS Columbarium Committee. Congrats on this wonderful partnership!
