Visiting Scholar Dr. Karla Suomala will speak about the Arab-Israeli conflict, one of the longest running in the modern world, a conflict that continues to dominate the news today. It is almost impossible to understand the dynamics of this conflict without looking back to history. This presentation will explore how decisions made by Western powers a century ago, especially during World War I, continue to impact what is happening in the Middle East today.

Free Store to Serve the Albuquerque Community
First Congregational UCC Albuquerque's Crane and Butterfly store is reopening on Monday, Sept 10. The store will be open from 3:00-4:30 p.m. each Monday through the 2018-19 school year. This began as a free store for Jefferson Middle School children. Since Jefferson is no longer a Community School, the store now will serve low income families from a number of other schools, helping to meet a very urgent need.
