We are holding the family of Rev. Ed Beck in our prayers. He was a United Methodist clergy person who served Desert Garden UCC from 1993-2007. Before ministry Ed was a larger-than life (6’7”) basketball star at Kentucky in the late 1950s.

During his service in the Southwest Conference he served on the Executive Board and was very active in other ways. When the last addition was made to the Desert Garden building, he led the initiative to include a $100,000 donation to the new church start in Surprise as part of the DG building project.

Ed died unexpectedly Wednesday. He was supposed to be with DG this Sunday. As of yesterday afternoon his wife, Faye, and their extended family are still planning to worship at Desert Garden this weekend. May God’s Spirit attend the Beck family with peace and comfort. May Christ’s resurrection provide them and the Desert Garden UCC family hope even as they grieve together. God of all comfort, in your mercy...
