ALTERNATE Healthy Ministry Module # 1
for Boundary Awareness Training
Wednesday, July 7 from 1-4 pm AZ / 2-5 pm NM/EP via Zoom
We’ll kick off our Southwest Conference Healthy Ministry Modules for 2021 on July 7 with our Alternate Module #1: Healthy Boundaries for Ministers Who Are Retired And Retiring.
This module is specifically designed for those clergy with active standing who are RETIRED or soon RETIRING. When you take this module, you do NOT need to take the regular Module #1. But you DO still need to take Modules #2, #3 and #4, if you have not already, before the end of 2022.
This ALTERNATE Module 1 It is designed to address the unique dynamics and boundaries of clergy in retirement, while offering a “safe” space to share stories and experiences. Topics to that will be included are:
Descriptions and dynamics of continuing active standing into professional retirement.
Discussion about continuing and changing sense of vocation, purpose and meaning into retirement.
Dynamics of power and vulnerability
Retiring and departing one’s ministry
Pastor Emeritus – boundaries and meaning
Best practices and parameters within a congregation of one’s membership
Options of Exempt Standing: when to choose it, what it means, and resigning standing without bias.
Just a reminder: All authorized ministers with standing in the SWC (except those with Exempt Standing) need to take all four modules ONCE sometime between the January 2018 and December 2022. The other four regular Health Ministry Modules (#1, 2, 3, and 4) will be held at a time soon TBD during the coming fall months. All of them will be offered again in 2022.
If you have an questions regarding this or any of the Healthy Ministry Module requirements, or any question regarding your ministerial standing, feel free to contact:
