Dear friends of the UCC Mental Health Network:
Earlier this month, the UCC Mental Health Network participated as a recognized Historically Underrepresented Group for the first time at the United Church of Christ General Synod! This was a big milestone for the MHN and, more importantly, an opportunity for us to share the work we’re doing and why we are doing it.
On behalf of the MHN Board of Directors and officers, I want to thank you for your support and prayers — we could not do this important work without a community of people who also believe in providing safe and loving places for people with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, neurodiversity, and other brain disorders.
I invite you to browse these videos of what we did at General Synod. You can see a preview of our upcoming curriculum, Sacred Crossings: Intersectionality and Mental Health, learn more about our Open and Affirming covenant, our opposition to conversion therapy, see the celebration for our founder and retiring chair, Rev. Alan Johnson, and find out about the organizations that became WISE this year. If you have any questions or want to discuss the MHN’s work, just drop us a note at wise@mhn-ucc.org.
Thank you for your continued support of the UCC Mental Health Network and for sharing our vision of the full inclusion of people with mental illnesses in the life, leadership and work of congregations.
Sincerely,
Rev. Amy Petré Hill
Chair, UCC Mental Health Network
