Rev. Bill Utke of Desert Garden UCC recently shared with us, after Desert Garden engaged an employment attorney, "We have learned that many churches and businesses are not in compliance with the FLSA revision that went into effect in 2020...it sets a new salary threshold for part time employees as related to overtime. If an employee does not make that threshold, be they salaried or hourly, they are not exempt from keeping a time card and having it on file…”

Please consider checking out these links and sharing them with the appropriate people in your church or ministry. It’s possible that some of our congregations and ministries are unintentionally out of compliance. It seems the penalties can be very high if an employer is audited.
