Dear 2020 Census Partner,
The global pandemic, economic instability, and growing social unrest have greatly affected us all. A lot has changed over the last few months for our faith communities. We understand many of the uncertainties you may be facing as a result of the recent developments surrounding the health of our nation.
The Census Bureau is carefully monitoring the situation and working with national, state, and local health authorities as the 2020 Census is still going strong. We're adapting our operations where needed, but our goal is the same - to ensure a complete and accurate count of everyone.
We know that you and your organization are rapidly putting together resources to help those in your communities. As part of your outreach efforts, we hope you can continue supporting the 2020 Census.
As a trusted voice in the community, you play a key role as a census partner. We are asking you to continue reaching out to your Faith-Based networks to participate in the Faith Communities Census Weekend of Action (July 24 - 26). We understand the current state of affairs, but achieving a complete and accurate count has never been more important. Census results will inform how hundreds of billions of dollars are allocated to our communities in areas such as housing, food assistance, and healthcare. We are urging our partners to engage their members virtually where possible.
Along with the ideas presented in the 2020 Census Action Guide for the Faith Community, we ask our partners to:
Post Census messages on social media, notice boards, streamed services online, or write blog posts with 2020 Census information for your newsletter or website
Post a link to the “2020 Census: Faith Leaders Spread the Word” videos: English, Spanish
Post or share one of the many diverse testimonials from our Census YouTube playlist
Host a webinar, teleconference, or virtual town halls to share 2020 Census information, encourage a response, and answer questions
Host a Twitter chat, Facebook live event, or Instagram live event to share 2020 Census information, encourage responses (by phone, mail-in or online), and answer questions
Provide families with children links to our Statistics in Schools online education resources and activities while school is out
Include 2020 Census information in the food or clothing packets you distribute to those in need
It has never been easier to respond on your own, whether online, over the phone, or by mail—all without having to meet a census taker. By responding at home, you’re ensuring the safety and health of those in your community.
Thank you for your continued support as a Faith-Based partner with the Census Bureau. The work that you do as a trusted voice in your community is invaluable to our ability to ensure a complete and accurate count of everyone living in the United States.
Sincerely,
Community Partnership Engagement Program
U.S. Census Bureau
