The Arizona legislature is putting public education at risk again. Please attend this Civic Academy to learn about two critical issues happening now:

· Public Education Spending Cap: If the legislature fails to override a Constitutional spending cap by March 1, Arizona’s public schools will be forced to enact budget cuts of over $1.2 billion beginning in April. What will this mean for school districts, and what you can do to stop this travesty?

· Flat Tax Trickery: Last summer UCC churches helped collect over 160,000 signatures for a referendum to place the SB1828 flat tax bill that would gut the state budget on the ballot. The referendum, now known as Prop 307, is slated for the November election. But legislative leaders plan to repeal SB 1828 and replace it with a slightly changed law that would make Prop 307 irrelevant, trampling the citizens’ right to a referendum.
