It’s always interesting to hear about our clergy’s hobbies.  For example, my husband, John Herman, took up the tuba this last year!  Well, Rev. Sarah Tevis Townes (Church of the Good Shepherd, Albuquerque) topped that!  She was awarded her “Master Garber” in Amtgard  last week.  Basically - she designed and sewed enough high-quality outfits that she became, in the eyes of other masters, a master herself.  She was also given the title of Paragon Archer, which is Nerd for “You’re a master archer and archery teacher.” (You’ll have to look up Amtgard.  I did.)

Church of the Palms did an amazing job decorating their van for the Pride Parade this past weekend. First Church and Scottsdale Congregational also joined together to participate.

Encanto Community Church is celebrating the response to their recent yard sale!  This year, thanks to online efforts, they pre-sold $953 of furniture before the sale began. Then, they sold an additional $4,844 worth of goods during the sale. Afterwards, they donated 5,897 pounds of items to Goodwill for which they will receive ten cents per pound ($589.70). So, including everything, the net was $6,386 which will be used for various church and youth activities!

Once a month, United Church of Santa Fe provides a simple, possibly home-made, take-home supper for United families. That gives hard-working, juggling-everything parents a break and feeds bodies and souls of both kids and parents.

The annual Interfaith Thanksgiving service in Albuquerque is evolving!  This year’s service will be on Sunday, Nov. 21 at 3:00 PM. It will be a hybrid service, so folks can join online or in person at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 9315 Candelaria NE. The service will be a mix of readings, prayers and music from various faith and cultural traditions. The offering will go to Lutheran Family Services for their work settling Afghan refugees, and the speaker will be a former refugee, who will help us better understand the refugee experience.

Pastor Michael from Casas Adobes UCC in Tucson, had the following article printed in the Tucson’s AZ Star newspaper last week. Pastor Michael's article in AZ Star Sunday, October 31, 2021

Shadow Rock Preschool welcomed some visitors this week! Vehicle Day is a highlight of the fall for many children and families. One of the ways the preschool lives Shadow Rock values is through celebrating the unique gifts that different people bring into the world. This year’s vehicle-related guests included Waste Management and the Phoenix Fire Department.

Congregational Church of the Valley has signed up through Scottsdale's Vista del Camino Adopt-a-Family Program to sponsor one family for BOTH Thanksgiving and Christmas. The family is a single mother with four children, ages 12-15, two girls and two boys.

Rincon’s November fellowship event is titled  “Pie and Coffee with Friends.”  Folks will be served a delicious variety of pies, including a gluten free option, along with coffee and hot water for tea.  The event will take place from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Wednesday, November 24th, the day before Thanksgiving, in Fellowship Hall.  Outdoor seating on the patio will also be available.
