Next up for the Sawitski Memorial Lecture Series

Desert Garden UCC is offering a free webinar on October 9 at 10 a.m. featuring the Rev. Dr. Joretta Marshall giving a presentation on The Hard Work and Challenge of Forgiveness. After a short break for participants to submit questions, she will lead a Q and A from 11 a.m. until noon.

The Rev. Dr. Marshall recently retired as Professor of Pastoral Theology, Care and Counseling at Brite Divinity School, where she also served as academic dean between 2012 and 2019. She has also served on the faculties of Vanderbilt University Divinity School, Iliff School of Theology and Eden Seminary, where she served as academic dean.

She is the author of How Can I Forgive and co-editor with Maria Fortune of Forgiveness and Abuse: Christian and Jewish Reflections.

The webinar will also feature musical selections and readings by the Rev. Rachel Hackenberg. The Rev. Hackenberg is publisher and managing editor for Pilgrim Press and writes and coordinates the Stillspeaking Daily Devotional.

The webinar is part of the Sawitski Memorial Lecture Series established in recognition of the Rev. Dr. Samuel Sawitski’s passion for teaching. He served Desert Garden UCC for a decade prior to his death in 2019.

The free webinar qualifies for continuing education hours for clergy if requested at registration. Registration opens September 9 at desertgardenucc.org.
