Many many of our churches are encouraging folks to attend worship online or have gone back to fully online for the next few weeks due to the rise in Covid cases.  Be safe out there, wear a mask, call a friend to check in, and read a good book!

Sarah Tevis Townes from Church of the Good Shepherd in Albuquerque reported that the hashtag #progressiveclergy just hit 200 MILLION views on TikTok. A small group of TikTok clergy came together in 2020 and invented that hashtag. There are now 279 clergy of different faiths in the group, organizing and creating progressive content on the app. For reference, 200 million is more than “evangelical” and “conservativeChristians” combined. Hate in the name of God is no longer the loudest voice.

United Church of Santa Fe and Albuquerque-based group, Coro Lux, are co-sponsoring a “come one, come all” Choral Festival. The festival celebrates the musical and cultural contributions of African Americans. This year’s celebration, “There Is a Balm in Gilead,” runs all day Saturday, Feb. 19, and culminates with morning worship and an afternoon concert Sunday, Feb. 20. All events are at United.  The cost is $65, which includes Saturday lunch and copies of the music we’ll sing on Sunday. Proof of vaccination and masks are required for all singers.  The guest clinician is Dr. Rosephanye Powell of Auburn University, an internationally recognized composer, conductor, and singer. An added bonus is an inspirational talk and book-signing by Richard Antoine White, about his journey from the Baltimore ghetto to a successful career in music. His new autobiography “I’m Possible” has been featured on the Today Show, and the talk shows of Jimmy Fallon and Trevor Noah.  For more information or to register, visit abqcorolux.org.

The Rock-n-Roll Marathon took place on Sunday, January 16, and every year makes it almost impossible to reach the Shepherd of the Hills church campus. Therefore, they worshiped together on Saturday!
