Desert Palm UCC held a Children’s Christmas Stocking Gift Drive. 100 children will be opening gift bags and finding warm jackets, cuddly PJs, cars, trucks, dinosaurs, dolls, teddy bears, books, and toys with lights and sounds. “Thank you to our super shopper, elf Marlene Schanz.”

A record 46 children from NourishPHX families were "adopted" by Shepherd of the Hills and gifted with toys and clothing this week. 400 children were signed up for the program, so SOH families and friends claimed over 10% of them. They also collected cash donations of $320 which allowed them to purchase 16 $20 gift cards for the outreach. And speaking of gift cards, Jeanne Roper's office associates had a gift card drive and collected 120 $25 gift cards! An amazing and very generous response that will go far to ensure happy holidays for NourishPHX clients. The Christmas spirit is alive and well at Shepherd!

Did you know … The U.S. produces 268 million tons of waste — 140 million going into landfills — each year, with the average American tossing 4.5 pounds of trash per day!

This year, First Congregational UCC - Albuquerque is holding a Recycled Nativity Contest. Participants (in categories as teams or individuals) will create a nativity out of items intended for the trash with judging on January 1. The nativity set must include at least one Wise Person. This event is open to everyone, not just kids!

Here is Emmy’s example Nativity Set with random stuff around her house.
