Scottsdale UCC youth enjoyed a 4-day “Youth Staycation” last week at an Airbnb. The youth played, swam, ate, and studied! They started the confirmation class; talked about prayer, the Bible, and about God. And this was just the kickoff! This event provided a good vacation for the kids and a very good start for their confirmation journey. Scottsdale looks forward to Confirmation on Pentecost Sunday.
As rhetoric grows more reproachful toward the LGBTQ+ communities, Desert Palm youth programming offered Radical Inclusion, a three-part Sunday School series. This Sunday, their guest speaker was Clayton Davenport from One N Ten Youth Organization. Clayton is the Sr. Director of Development and spoke on "Empowering Our Youth To Face Our Current Political Climate In Regard To Radical Inclusion"
Congregational Church of the Valley is saying “a Happy and well deserved Retirement” to Michelle Conn who has served as their church administrator for the past 13 years! They are also saying “Welcome” to Ida Saucedo! Ida is the current part-time administrator at Church of the Beatitudes. She wanted more full time work, so will be covering both churches. CCoV pastors Sandi and Dick met Ida by serving as interims at Beatitudes.
The Bird City Bike Coop at First Church Phoenix was able to supply bikes to the whole family of Afghan asylum seekers living at University Presbyterian Church last week. What a wonderful ministry! (Thank you, Bird City). The family can not only enjoy rides together, they can go to the grocery, drug store, library, and other destinations without volunteer drivers.
Larry Wooster and Silver and Chrome, with Chris Buzan, Patrick Smith, and Bill Foraker, will perform favorites from the 60s, 70’s, and beyond on March 28 to benefit the Sahuarita Food Bank and Community Resource Center at Javarita Coffee House at the Good Shepherd UCC starting at 7 pm. Enjoy an evening full of musical memories, singing along or dancing in the aisles. Tickets are only $15. Silver and Chrome, over the last few years, have raised more than $20,000 for SFB-CRC.
