The ACM search team has written and posted a position description for a full-time associate conference minister:
The Southwest Conference seeks a full-time associate conference minister to provide: staff and administrative support to Committee on Church and Ministry A (ministerial authorization); administrate and support Conference programs including youth & outdoor ministries, boundary and diversity trainings for clergy (active and retired) and lay people; create, coordinate and resource new models of spiritual formation for implementation throughout the conference.
Applicants must be United Church of Christ authorized ministers with good standing. The called candidate will have demonstrated: self-awareness and spiritual grounding; passion for the local church; self-motivation and initiative; strong administrative skills; ability to translate ideas into realized programs; a collaborative and collegial work style; a strong pastoral, non-anxious presence; problem solving and conflict resolution skills; technology/social media competency.
SWC’s mission statement reads, “Extravagantly welcoming and affirming followers of Christ called to embody God’s unconditional justice and love.” The SWC office’s functional mission is equipping congregations and clergy for their best possible ministry. Our 48 local churches are spread across Central Arizona (21); Southern Arizona (10), Northern Arizona (4), Northern New Mexico (8); Southern New Mexico/El Paso (5). The Southwest Conference spans 567 miles of borderlands with Mexico with its own unique culture and struggles. Traveling, sometimes extensively, is required. SWC is blessed with many resources including engaged members, growing churches, and a strong financial position.
We are in conversation about future ministry models for churches, camp, and life-span spiritual formation. Strategic planning process begins later this year.
