Sue Ringler

Sue Ringler, one of the first directors of Paz de Cristo in Mesa and founder/leader of the Tempe IHELP program, has died.

Sue was diagnosed with Burkitt’s Lymphoma in late 2020; after a brief remission in early 2021, it returned and Sue succumbed to the cancer in the early afternoon on Wednesday October 13, 2021, surrounded by her husband Gary, her sister Amy, her children Leslie, Alex, and Katie, her son-in-law Eric, and her friend Robin.

Sue was ordained a priest in the Catholic Church (not Roman Catholic), and pastored a congregation for several years.

Holly Herman writes, “She is one of the most influential women I have ever known in the East Valley community and throughout the Phoenix area.”

From Arizona Faith Network: “Rev. Sue was a long-time interfaith leader and advocate for justice. She contributed so much to many of our lives. Rev. Sue is in large part responsible for the ongoing life of the Arizona Faith Network and our work today. May we honor her memory. May we love as she loved. May we continue the fight for justice as she fought. Rest in peace and power dear Pastor. You lived well and taught us to do the same.”

Even in her final days she was inspired by her fellow humans to do good with what time she had left. It’s her family’s hope that the people who were inspired and moved by her life, will continue to help others, in the spirit of Sue, long into the future. And in that spirit, Sue wishes for everyone to donate to Women4Women Tempe in lieu of sending flowers or gifts. https://women4womentempe.org/donate/
