With joy, the SWC Executive Board announces that the 2023 Annual Meeting will be held in-person, in El Paso, TX on April 27, 28, and 29! After successfully hosting three online gatherings, we felt called by the Spirit to gather in-person to share, to celebrate, and to be in community with one another again. We appreciate the new knowledge and skills gained through our virtual efforts and look forward to re-building relationships and reconnecting in ways best done face to face.
Hosting the Annual Meeting in El Paso will require most Delegates to be on a pilgrimage and travel for the in-person meeting. As a border city in Texas, El Paso gives the Southwest Conference the opportunity to highlight the uniqueness of the geographical region, our local churches and their work and outreach, and the intersectionality of advocacy for social justice, humane immigration, and reproductive liberty. Our voices are louder and stronger when joined together in El Paso.
Thursday, April 27 will be a travel day that will incorporate land acknowledgements and intentional questions around whose land we are travelling across. Friday, April 28 will be a day full of worship, workshops, reconnecting, and other meaningful experiences. Saturday, April 29 will be the business day and the day for departure. New this year, we will be hosting virtual meetings in advance of the in-person dates to work on hearings and resolutions.
More details about standing rules, hotel location, and registration will be forthcoming. We look forward to seeing you all in El Paso in April!
