Many of us who have been working for a more just and livable environment in Arizona have grown tired of always playing defense against bad environmental bills from the Arizona State Legislature. This year faith leaders and environmental activists are taking the initiative to promote a proactive, positive approach to environmental justice. Those of us who are planning Environmental Day at the Legislature, Feb. 9, 2022, have created "2022 Environmental Priorities for the Arizona Legislature and Governor.” It includes an outline of five environmental justice issues that we feel are essential:

1) Ensure Access to Democracy for All

2) Act on the climate crisis—now!

3) Address Water Scarcity

4) Address Environmental Injustice/ Racism

5) Land protection, restoration, and wildlife protection
