This month we have two Earth Day-related digital events!
"Getting Ready for Earth Sunday: Resources for Congregations"
Wednesday, April 13th, 1 pm ET
Avery Davis Lamb from Creation Justice Ministries will be presenting a new resource for congregations entitled “Weathering the Storm: Faithful Climate Resilience.” It helps churches respond to the question, “How can our churches be hubs of resilience, helping our neighbors weather the physical and spiritual storms of the climate crisis?” The resource can be used year-round and is also particularly useful in preparing for Earth Sunday (April 24th). Register now!
"The Faith of Prophets: Lessons for the Climate Crisis"
Saturday, April 23rd, 10:30 am ET
Prophets are needed as much as ever now as our world confronts the climate crisis. Yet, we can no longer wait for others to be the prophets that were needed yesterday. We have to find the prophet in each of us. To answer the urgent call for action today, this special online Earth Week event will focus on what the Hebrew Prophets can teach us as well as what prophetic actions are currently being taken. The event will consist of three parts: an opening keynote, a panel discussion, and a suggested action for congregations to take in their own communities. Speakers will include Nellis Kennedy-Howard from Honor the Earth, the Rev. Michael Malcom from the People's Justice Council, the Rev. Brooks Berndt from the United Church of Christ, and Hector Arbuckle from student-led climate movement. Register now!
Even if you can't make the scheduled time for one of these events, still register, and we will send you a recording afterward.
