Desert Garden UCC is excited to share good news with our sibling churches in the Southwest Conference! Thanks to tremendous hard work by so many, and with gratitude to Jill White at the UCC Building and Loan Fund, we exceeded our goal for the Capital Campaign.
A Celebration Worship service and Brunch was shared April 16, 2023.
We are thankful to God for the courage to engage in this “Renewing for Our Future” campaign.

At the IRC Welcome Center, our First Church team continues to volunteer each Saturday, welcoming asylum-seekers on their journey through Phoenix from the border to their sponsors throughout the country.
So far this year, 6,403 asylum-seekers have arrived at the Welcome Center, coming from 66 countries and speaking 44 different primary languages.

Desert Garden UCC in Sun City West is offering a public showing of the movie Gen Silent. It is a critically accalimed documentary about the challenges of older LGBTQIA+ people when they have to enter the healthcare or elder care facilities.

Sunrise Dr., Tucson. Those who can are asked to arrive at 5pm to fill the 125 spot parking lot with supportive people.
Here's why:
Earlier this week, there was a takeover of the CFSD school board by The Bridge Church and people from out of town. They subverted the agenda and started a debate about the rights of transgender students.The protesters were booing and hissing at students and carrying hateful signage.
This is an opportunity for us to demonstrate the love and compassion of Christ over the hateful message. Doing so on the heels of the celebration of Easter feels all the more necessary and right.

The First Congregational Church of Prescott has been blessed with many new members this past year, including some who speak primarily Spanish. To underscore our commitment to welcoming people of every race, language, age, gender and gender identity, ethnicity, economic status, mental or physical ability, or sexual orientation, our congregation was inspired to offer weekly Spanish classes.

On Sunday, March 19, The Church of the Palms in Sun City, AZ, with Associate Conference Minister, Rev. Dr. Barb Doerrer-Peacock, commissioned its new ministry team – Doing Grief Community Healing Project and dedicated its Interfaith Chapel for Healing as the new home of the healing project.
Doing Grief Community Healing Project is a community of grievers and healers, empowering grievers to heal in mind, body, and spirit. Those of all faiths and no faith who are experiencing losses due to death, broken relationships, illness, injury, aging, trauma, or any grief-striking loss are welcome.

All are welcome to walk one of the labyrinths at Church of the Palms UCC for a self-directed 30-minute walk, with a printed guide provided for pauses at the ‘stations of the cross’ to read a brief Biblical text and prayer.
Volunteers will be available to assist walkers. Chairs and water will be available. The guides will be available in the literature box for late afternoon and evening walks as well.

The Mission Team at Sun Lakes United Church of Christ took on a Lenten Giving Project for the members of the church. This project will benefit two organizations that the church has been supporting for many years. For the first three weeks in Lent, they collected items for UMOM New Day Centers and for the last three weeks of Lent they will collect items for Justa Center.
