Casas Adobes Congregational Church, in the northwest side of Tucson, Arizona, is seeking to fill an opening in their lively office, specifically an Assistant Administrator and Digital Content Manager.
This position is part-time: Monday-Thursdays, typically 9:00-12:00 onsite (and consideration for remote work). Hours worked range from 28-30 hours/week.
Benefits include 7 paid holidays, vacation and sick time after 90 days, with medical health insurance provided and funded at 50% by CAUCC.
Salary range starts at $17/hour with higher salary a consideration, commensurate with experience.

Throughout the COVID pandemic, the Maricopa County Public Health Department has provided personal protective equipment (PPE) to long-term-care, physicians, schools, charitable organizations, etc. They’re currently in the process of demobilizing. They have a variety of both current/unexpired and expired items that can still be used, depending on their intended purpose. There is NO CHARGE for these items, though they ask that you retrieve your items at their Phoenix warehouse.

Desert Palm UCC’s newly Commissioned Minister of Music and the Arts, Marc Gaston, is a nominee/one of the finalists for the Mayor's 2023 Arts Awards (October 12th at 6PM at the Phoenix Center of the Arts) in the Community Innovator category.
Marc was the first person commissioned by a local congregation after the SW Conference delegated that power to the local church!

All are welcome to attend the dedication and blessing of the “Homeless Jesus” sculpture being installed at The Church of the Palms UCC at 14808 N Boswell Blvd in Sun City, AZ. The service is at 11 am on November 18. SWC Transitional Conference Minister Dr. Toni Hawkins will provide the blessing.
The art is a seven-foot bronze sculpture by Timothy Schmalz, a Canadian sculptor and a devout Catholic, entitled, “Homeless Jesus”, which depicts Jesus sleeping on a park bench.
His face and hands are obscured under the blanket; the only clue to his identity is the crucifixion wounds on his feet.

Journalist and scholar, Stephanie Saldana, is going to be in the Tucson/Phoenix area. She wrote a beautiful book What We Remember Will Be Saved: A Story of Refugees and the Things They Carry.
She follows the lives of six refugees from Syria and Iraqi, describing what they saved and how they rebuilt their lives in other countries.

UPDATE: The storytelling event has been expanded to become intergenerational because we received some parent/adult interest. So anyone -- adults and teens --can participate.
Tempe’s Desert Palm is hosting an open invitation to Phoenix-area sister campuses to participate in a free storytelling workshop. The interfaith workshop in Desert Palm’s sanctuary will be led by master storytellers, Rev. Doug Bland and Storytelling Institute Faculty Director Liz Warren. Students ages 12-18 will learn how to brainstorm, craft and share at least a 5-minute story on stage. (Pizza, drinks and dessert will be served after the workshop.)
